In a rapidly changing world, the role of a museum, its perspective towards the public, and the way visitors use the museum are also changing. A museum is expected to be flexible, and so is its architecture. Starting from temporary inflatable spaces, MMCA Gwacheon creates dialogues and interactions with visitors. As part of the Seoul Grand Park master plan, connected through the monorail infrastructure, the museum discovers its artistic and cultural identity within the area. The new pneumatic extension of the museum will have a lifespan of 10 years, and its function will be determined by the participation of people in the design process. The lightweight structure can be removed and transported to other locations, bringing its story and memories to a new place!
