BLURRY VENICE
Venice Art Biennale 2019
Padiglione Venezia, Giardini, Venice, Italy
Imagine a space where neither wall, nor ceiling nor floor exists. Like a city in a realm where land and water have no clear boundary. In this blurred dreamlike space, visitors walk on water, projecting their own shadows and becoming performers and observers to one another.
BLURRY VENICE is a oneiric experience in which the boundaries between environment and architecture disappear and air, water and skyline melt together. The installation distorts the perception and creates illusion that turns architectural construction into an imaginary landscape. Several sculptures by Fabio Viale, literally representing Venetian briccole, form a passage across the water, through which the expanding space is compressed and can be explored.
Blurry Venice is a site-specific installation created for the Venice Pavilion during the Venice Art Biennale 2019.
