Whether Weather

Whether Weather is an imagined space that protects us from any kind of weather or external circumstances while allowing us to experience nature. Upon entering the splendid silver structure, whose color changes with the light, visitors encounter a long tunnel, like a protective membrane, white on one side and transparent on the other. The experience of walking around a small, unrefined forest in the center may feel like taking a walk along a path at dawn after the rain has stopped, or like walking on an unfamiliar planet.
A space between the outside and the inside, and within the inside, a space that presents contrasting aspects: it may seem to surround and protect the forest, while at the same time seeming to protect the visitors who have entered it. Within this space, where visitors coexist with nature that offers comfort yet remain separated from it, the work raises questions about the multifaceted relationship between nature and humans—what to protect visitors from, and what to protect.
The pneumatic installation takes into account the architectural space where the work is installed, the paths of the pipes along the pillars and ceiling, and the flow of visitors—envisioning a space that everyone in the world needs these days: a space that is not affected by bad weather, is safe from viruses, allows us to feel nature indoors, and can soothe a weary mind.
갑자기 쏟아지는 비, 변덕스러운 공기의 온도와 바람의 움직임 등 자연에서 일어나는 여러 가지 자연 현상으로부터 우리는 스스로를 보호하고자 합니다. 반대로 그 모든 현상을 포함한 ‘자연'은 나름의 질서와 이유를 갖고 움직이며 그 자체로 온전하게 보호받을 필요가 있는 대상이기도 합니다.
Whether Weather는 어떤 날씨나 외부 상황으로부터든 우리를 지켜주면서 자연을 느낄 수 있는 상상의 공간입니다. 빛에 따라 색이 변하는 화려한 은색 구조물 안으로 들어서면 한쪽은 하얗고 반대편은 투명한, 마치 보호막 같은 긴 터널을 마주하게 됩니다. 거칠게 다듬어지지 않은 작은 숲을 가운데에 두고 걷는 경험은 비가 그친 새벽의 오솔길을 산책하는 듯, 낯선 행성을 걷는 듯한 느낌을 줄 것입니다.
외부와 내부, 그리고 내부에서도 다시 상반된 모습을 한 공간, 숲을 보호하기 위해 둘러싸고 있는 것 같기도, 그 안에 들어와있는 우리를 지켜주는 것 같기도 한 공간. 우리에게 위로를 주는 자연과 공존하고 있지만 분리된 이 안에서 자연과 인간의 다중적인 관계에 대해 - 무엇으로부터 우리를 지키고, 또 무엇을 보호할지 - 질문합니다.
